West Bab Woman Arrested for DWI, Drug Possession
Speeding stop on Southern State leads to drunken driving and drug charges.
A 23-year-old West Babylon woman pulled over for speeding Thursday evening was arrested and charged with DWI and possession of a small amount of ecstacy, according to New York State Police.
Troopers said Sara Gafforio was driving her black Kia Rio westbound about 8:30 p.m. at a speed of 84 mph in a 55-mph zone of the Southern State near Newbridge Road. After pulling Gafforio over for the alleged speeding, troopers stated they detected a strong alcoholic odor and that Gafforio failed sobriety tests. Police said they also discovered a small amount of the drug ecstacy on Gafforio.
She is charged wtih DWI, criminal possession of a controlled substance 7th degree and traffic violations.
