West Babylon Chase Bank Robbed

Man told a teller he had a gun before fleeing with cash Tuesday afternoon, police say.

A Chase Bank in West Babylon was robbed Tuesday afternoon, police said. 

A man entered the bank, located at 523 Montauk Highway, approached a teller and produced a note that stated he had a gun and demanded cash, police said.  

The teller complied with the demand and gave the man cash from the drawer, police said.  The robber fled on foot and was last seen heading eastbound on Montauk Highway.

The robber is described as a white male, between 6-foot-5 and 6-foot-7, and in his mid-20s.  He has a thin build, and was unshaven and wearing a red and black ski jacket at the time of the robbery. 

Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to call anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS. All calls will remain confidential.

A West Islip bank was also robbed on Tuesday. A TD Bank in West Babylon was robbed last week.
