West Babylon Woman Arrested for Burglary

DNA analysis leads to arrest for an October burglary.

A West Babylon woman was arrested Monday for a burglary that took place in Wantagh more than four months ago.

According to Nassau County detectives, around 11:35 p.m. on Oct. 2, 2011, Michelle Cimetta, 48, of West Babylon, entered a residence at 711 Wantagh Ave. by breaking a rear bedroom window.

The former resident had recently passed away and the apartment was unoccupied at the time of the burglary, police said. A witness, who heard breaking glass, notified police.

According to police, once inside, Cimetta allegedly took assorted jewelry and fled the scene prior to police arrival.

Nassau County Crime Scene Detectives were able to recover a blood sample from inside the bedroom and upon DNA Analysis, the sample concluded that the blood belonged to Cimetta.

Eighth Precinct Detectives located and arrested Cimetta on Monday at Allen Park in Farmingdale. She is being charged with burglary in the second degree and will be arraigned on Tuesday at First District Court in Hempstead.
