UPDATE: Police Identify Woman Hit By Car In West Babylon

Karissa Uettwiller, 26, of Lindenhurst, remains in serious condition at Good Samaritan Hospital.

Police have identified the 26-year-old Lindenhurst woman who was seriously injured Friday night in West Babylon after being hit by a car on Route 109.

According to police, Don Gorham, 19, of Lindenhurst was driving a 2000 BMW sedan eastbound on Route 109 near Straight Path when his car hit Karissa Uettwiller as she attempted to cross the busy road at around 10:20 p.m.

She was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital in West Islip and as of Sunday afternoon remained in serious condition, police said.

Gorham, of 11 Feustal St., was not injured.

Police have impounded the car for a safety check and the investigation is continuing.
