Woman Killed in Sunrise Highway Crash in West Babylon

Unidentified woman was hit from behind by a box truck Wednesday afternoon, sending her car into a guardrail, police say.

A woman was killed in West Babylon Wednesday afternoon after her car was rear-ended by a box truck on Sunrise Highway, police said. 

The woman, who hasn't yet been identified, was driving westbound in the center lane in a 1990 Geo west of Little East Neck Road at 3 p.m. when she slowed down. That's when a 2009 International truck hit her from behind, sending her car into a guardrail, police said.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

The driver of the truck, Ramis Kirlangic, 49, of Fairview, New Jersey, wasn't injured. The truck is owned by Sarcona Management, a New Jersey company that delivers paper to print shops, police said.

Police said they don't expect to file any criminal charges against Kirlangic.
