A woman was killed in West Babylon Wednesday afternoon after her car was rear-ended by a box truck on Sunrise Highway, police said.

The woman, who hasn't yet been identified, was driving westbound in the center lane in a 1990 Geo west of Little East Neck Road at 3 p.m. when she slowed down. That's when a 2009 International truck hit her from behind, sending her car into a guardrail, police said.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

The driver of the truck, Ramis Kirlangic, 49, of Fairview, New Jersey, wasn't injured. The truck is owned by Sarcona Management, a New Jersey company that delivers paper to print shops, police said.

Police said they don't expect to file any criminal charges against Kirlangic.

Police are asking anyone with information on the crash to contact the First Squad at 631-854-8152 or call anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.

i also am a resident of that area I am amazed at the speed of trucks on that rode. It is a disgrace that the area isn't patrolled better and the drivers that are speeding aren't arrested. there is a total disregard for anyone on that road. the speed limits are either not enforced or are too high for that type of road. I am always trying to avoid getting run off the road by these trucks. I passed that accident after it happened it was horrific. How fast was that driver going that he couldn't avoid her. my condolences to the family.
