American Legion Thanks Mayor for Support

Letter read aloud into village record from legion members thanking mayor.

The veterans from the American Legion thanked Babylon's mayor and village board for their continued support over the past years in letter read during the June 25 meeting.

Commander Armen Enkababian read the letter, addressed to Mayor Ralph Scordino, during the public commenting portion of the meeting.

"To the Mayor:

As the American Legion year comes to an end, I wish to acknowledge the support you have given to the Babylon post. It has been a year with many highs and some very difficult lows. Your leadership and commitments the residents of the village has been proven over and over again this past year.

The calamity caused by Superstorm Sandy was test for all of us – you came through with flying colors. Your tireless efforts and on-sight efforts was a inspiration to us all.

Of all the public officials who appear at our functions... you are by far the most eloquent speaker. This is because your words come from your heart. Your message to the young people in our community are most timely and inspire them to learn the true meaning of the important holidays.

We appreciate your steadfast support of veterans and specifically the American Legion in Babylon.

Some people joke they have friends in high places, but for us we truly know we have a friend and support. The American Legion greatly appreciates your support and commitment to help the community and your service to the citizens of Babylon.

Please accept this certificate of appreciation for your efforts and thank you again for all you have done."
