Another Positive West Nile Sample in West Babylon

Suffolk County Health Services has announced the finding of another mosquito with West Nile Virus.

The Suffolk County Department of Health Services announced Friday another mosquito sample taken from West Babylon tested positive for West Nile Virus.

The announcement, one of two positive samples still found on Long Island, came as the Fall season has begun and temperatures have steadily decreased over recent weeks.

The sample, found on September 21st, was identified as an Asian Tiger mosquito. To date, 210 mosquitoes and 38 birds have tested positive for West Nile Virus this year. Two human cases were also reported in Suffolk County this season, including one in Babylon Town.
