Babylon Chamber Hosting Networking Event

Local business owners invited to Tuesday's networking and general meeting free of charge.

The Babylon Town Chamber of Commerce will host a free networking and general meeting for area business owners on April 16.

The chamber invites local business owners and representatives to mingle at the Blue Lagoon Restaurant and Bar in West Babylon at 6 p.m. Tuesday. The Chamber of Commerce will hold its general meeting over dinner afterwards at 7 p.m.

Ethan Mayers, founder and one of the partners to Synthenai, a New York City-based management consulting firm focused on rethinking and reframing business design and processes for small to mid-sized businesses will be the guest speaker. He will give a presentation on "Shepherding Success: How Good Operations Unleashes Innovation, Sustains Growth and Wins in the Marketplace."

Mayers will address that the No. 1 cause of business failure is planning, either a lack of planning or bad planning. Nine out of 10 business failures are due to a lack of experience in business operations, according to Mayers. He will share best practices for business start-ups at different phases on the path to success.

Both events are free of charge, but attendees are expected to pay for their own dinner and drinks. The Blue Lagoon Bar and Grill is located at 677 Route 109 in West Babylon.
