Babylon Public Library Budget Passes

Village residents pass the 2013-2014 library budget with over 78 percent voting yes.

The Babylon Public Library's budget for the 2013-2014 year has passed, according to library director Neely McCahey.

The proposed budget put before the public in late March called for a small two percent increase, with a total budget of around $1.9 million. The increase will raise the tax rate $0.20 per $100 of assessed value to $10.01.

McCahey told Patch that over 150 residents came out for today's vote, with 125 voting "yes" and 35 voting "no."
