Babylon Village Board Notes: 3/12 Meeting

The board approved several measures and made a few announcements at its meeting on Tuesday evening.

The Babylon Village Board of Trustees held a public meeting at Babylon Village Hall on March 12 and passed several resolutions along with some notices about upcoming village events.

The following items were discussed by the Babylon Village Board:

  • The board approved the minutes of the previous meeting, held February 26th.
  • Approved the Seventh-day Adventist Church to open a Food Pantry from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. one day a week.
  • Approved a refund in the amount of $5.00 to Dr. David Scharf for overpayment of a boat berth.
  • Removed tax exemption from two properties within the village as their new owners were not approved military veterans: 32 Strong Avenue and 152 Cadman Avenue.
  • Accepted the resigination of John Aziz as a part-time labor as of Feb. 28.
  • Approved a number of new taxi drivers within the village.
  • Rescinded the contract awarded to ABS Pump Repair Inc. on Feb. 12 for the pool repair project due to unresponsiveness on the company's part.

  • Trustee Debbie Basile announced the Conklin House will be opened on Sat., March 23 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. for an open house tour. All are welcome.
  • Deputy Mayor Kevin Muldowney noted the village golf course was reopened and invited all to come down and play a round.
  • Trustee Anthony Davida announced work began within the damaged Babylon Village Pool on Tuesday, March 12. He said he hoped to have the pool ready by its expected completion day of June 1.
  • Trustee Carol Amelia said summer work applications are available at Babylon Village Hall until April 12.
  • Mayor Ralph Scordino announced the village will hold a public hearing on March 26 to consider the addition of a new building at the Long Island Yacht Club, which were previously lost or damaged during Hurricane Sandy.
  • Village offices will be closed at 12 p.m. on March 29 for Good Friday.
