Babylon Village Board Notes: 3/26 Meeting

The board approved several upcoming events in Babylon Village and made an announcement concerning the budget.

The Babylon Village Board of Trustees held a public meeting at Babylon Village Hall on March 26 and passed several resolutions along with some notices about upcoming village events.

The following items were discussed by the Babylon Village Board:

  • The board approved moves taken by the Babylon Fire Council concerning member maneuvers.
  • Approval was granted to the American Legion Post 94 to hold its Annual Memorial Day Parade on Monday, May 27 at 11 a.m. on Deer Park Avenue and Montauk Highway.
  • Approval was granted to the Babylon Village Arts Council to use the Conklin House on July 13 for the Afternoon of Art from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. and the Sixth Annual Summer Concert from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
  • Approval was granted to the Babylon Village Chamber of Commerce to hold three events this year:
    • Spring Fling and Sidewalk Sale on May 31 and June 1-2
    • Fall Harvest Street Fair on October 9
    • Olde Fashioned Village Christmas on December 6
  • The board approved a bond resolution to acquire four parking meter pay stations.

  • The budget for the 2013-2013 fiscal year was presented to the Village Board. A Budget Hearing will be held on April 1 at 7 p.m. for residents to voice their concern and comments.
  • A copy of the tentative budget will be available at the Babylon Village clerk's office on Thursday, March 28.
  • A Public Hearing will be held on April 9 at 7 p.m. to hear application plans for a new restaurant at 1 West Main Street, currently occupied by Tidewaters Grill.
  • Bids will be opened for plastic bags at Village Hall on April 11. Specifications are available in the village clerk's office.
  • The Babylon Village Little League Parade is on April 6 at 10 a.m.
  • Trustees Carol Amelia and Debbie Basile were not in attendance due to "personal reasons."
