Business Beat: Cupcakes, Yogurt, and Smoothies on the Menu

This news from downtown Babylon Village is a roundup of newest snack options.

The village's newest spot for treats, A.G.'s Cupcakery and Coffee Bar, is open for business on Railroad Avenue. The bakery and cafe hopes to serve gourmet cupcakes and coffee drinks to the commuter, shopper and student crowds from their spot across from the Babylon train station.

Two more vendors have pending applications that will be discussed at the Village of Babylon on December 13. The first, a self-serve style yogurt shop, would go into the empty storefront next to the recently closed Tradewinds Deli.

Another application is for the village's first smoothie shop. Signs in the window of what was formerly Square Ten for the shop, Natural Blendz, says it will feature "organic and natural juices and smoothies," along with healthy snacks.

One rumored eatery that hasn't come to fruition was an organic omelet shop in the former Babylon Hardware storefront. The space is still available for lease.

Just over the border in West Babylon, the Rite Aid on Route 109 is closing. A 50% off all merchandise banner is up and the store will be moving to 729 Sunrise Highway.
