Captree Fireworks Will Light up the Bay

The second annual Go 4th on the Bay fireworks show is designed to fill the gap left by the cancellation of the Jones Beach show.

The Great South Bay will still light up this weekend thanks to the Captree Boatmens Association.

For the second year in a row, a lack of state police officers has led to the axing of the popular Jones Beach fireworks display. The Monday night Captree show will feature fireworks by Grucci.

The other nearby show, on Fire Island, is harder to see from Long Island, but the Captree show should be visible from bayfront shorelines from Babylon to Islip.

The Bay Shore Marina will offer prime viewing, according to a statement from Fireworks by Grucci. An airplane flyover from the Bayport Aerodrome Society will kick off the festivities.

The show is scheduled for 9 p.m. The Captree association is also sending out viewing boats, which will offer the best views of the show. You can check out various boats for fireworks trip ticket prices and time. The association is a trade group made up of the charter fishing boats that operate out of Captree State Park at the eastern end of Jones Beach Island.
