Curfew Extended in Babylon Village

Mayor extends village's emergency curfew for areas South of Montauk Highway.

Babylon Village has extended it's curfew for areas within the Category 1 and 2 flood zones south of Montauk Highway (or Main Street) until further notice.

Mayor Ralph Scordino signed an extension to the original curfew set by the village on November 2nd, citing the numerous power outages and damage caused by Hurricane Sandy in the areas south of Route 27A, creating a public safety threat. The curfew was also enacted to serve as a warning to potential looters.

The current extension applies the same rules as the previous curfew – all non-residents of the areas south of Montauk Highway (27A or Main Street) are prohibited by law from being on the streets after dusk and before dawn. All those non-residents found will be arrested.

The curfew for Babylon Village is also backed by Babylon Town, which similarly issued a curfew this past week. A West Babylon man was arrested yesterday for violating the curfew on Little East Neck Road.
