Martin Luther King Day Closures

In honor of the civil rights leader, schools, village and town offices, and the postal service are closed today.

Today is Martin Luther King Day, a federal holiday held each year on the third Monday in January. It honors the achievement of civil right leader Martin Luther King Jr.

In observance of the holiday the following government offices and local community entities are closed:

  1. There is no U.S. Postal delivery service
  2. Babylon Village Hall offices are closed
  3. Babylon Town Hall is closed
  4. The Babylon School District is closed
  5. The Babylon Public Library is closed

But while most banks, government offices and schools are off; local village businesses are typically open on the federal holiday so it’s a great day to shop. Monday night wanna be singers and comedians also have a chance to hone their skills at an Open Mic night at the Bartini Bar, at 124 North Carll Avenue. Dave Drew is the emcee. Sign up is at 8 p.m. and local talent takes the stage at 9 p.m.
