Mayor: Everyday Should Be Memorial Day

Following the parade through the village, the American Legion hosted a Memorial Day ceremony at Argyle Park in the gazebo where several local officials and dignitaries spoke.

Babylon Village Mayor Ralph Scordino told community members he hopes everyone remembers those who protect and serve the United States on a daily basis – not just on a holiday like Memorial Day.

"Today I would like you to remember it is the veteran, not the preacher who has given us the freedom of religion," Scordino said, listing off other rights guaranteed in the Constitution. "Everyday should be Memorial Day. Let us remember those who have done for us and continue to do."
