Meet Dan, Shelter Pet of the Week

Seeking a new family pet? This sweet pup might be the right one for you and your family.

Dan is a docile, sweet and handsome American staffordshire terrier who's seeking a forever home. He came to the Town of Babylon Animal Shelter a little more than two months ago unneutered.

According to shelter officials, the people who originally wanted him for breeding didn't come back for him within the seven-day timeframe, and they decided against adopting him after learning he was neutered, as per shelter policy.

So he's been there ever since, ever hopeful that another loving family will come along and take him home, to stay.

Most recently he was playing doggie ambassador for the TOB Animal Shelter at its booth at the Town's at in Lindenhurst.

According to shelter volunteer Christina Catalano, Dan is approximately two years old, very dog-friendly and quite the gentleman.

Dan showed off his short, dapper, gray and white coat, kind and mellow disposition and his knowledge of basic commands on Saturday, .

For more information about Dan, call the TOB Animal Shelter (BAARC) at 631-643-9270, go to the shelter's Facebook page, e-mail the shelter or visit the website. Dan's ID number is 12-152.

Handsome boy. Not sure why the shelter would even consider letting someone adopt who was considering breeding. Kind of defeats the purpose, doesn't it?
