Molto Vino Looking to Expand, Move Retail Store

Owner displays plans before village Planning Board for 55-seat wine bar.

Babylon Village's one-and-only wine and cheese osteria, Molto Vino, was completed only a short time ago, but the popular spot is already looking to expand.

Molto Vino, which opened its doors for the first time on October 20, 2012, would expand from its current 19-seat maximum to a 55-seat bar if the plans presented to the Planning Board are approved in the future.

Owner Massimiliano Gargiulo brought his plans before the Planning board at their February 28 meeting, showing floor plans for the additional seating and rearranged bar-area. The plans included the moving of Gargiulo's Solo Vino wine shop to a new location and the elimination of the former Country Peddler storefront.

Planning Board members cited concerns with resident parking behind the building after the introduction of an outdoor patio in the back, but Gargiulo noted he was one of the two building residents and owned the building his storefronts are in.

Molto Vino would retain its small plates menu and full wine choices, with a new kitchen added on as well.

The Planning Board reserved decision on the matter, citing the need for more information of the layouts. If the Planning Board approves the expansion, Gargiulo will need to also go before the Village Board for change of use to his spaces.
