New Architectural Board Chairman, Member Appointed by Village

Board accepts resignation of previous chairman, Theresa Del Toro.

The Babylon Village Board of Trustees approved the appointment of a new chairman and member to the village's Architectural Review Board at the regular meeting on Tuesday evening.

The board unanimously accepted former chairman Philip Franke as the new chairman of the Architectural Review Board for a three-year term that will end in December 2015. Franke had previously held the position as recently as 2010.

The board also unanimously approved the naming of Mary Adams as a new member to the review board. Adams is a real estate agent at Century 21 Adams and chairman of the Babylon Tuna Club. According to the approved motion, Adams is slated to make $1,000 annually.

Adams' term will also be for three years and end in December 2015.

The board made these moves in response to the acceptance of the resignation of previous chairman Theresa Del Toro. Her departure from the board was effective December 7th, according to the village. No reason was given for her resignation.

Other notable items during the December 11 meeting included:

  • Approval of an April 6th, 2013 parade for the Babylon Little League's Opening Day.
  • Approval of the disposal of old recordings of the Board of Trustees' meetings used for record-keeping and transcription from 2007 to 2011.
  • A public hearing will be held on January 8th to amend a local law pertaining to the structure height in a flood zone.
