Officials: Tonight's Mosquito Spraying Canceled

Suffolk County has canceled the July 30 mosquito spraying in Lindenhurst, West Babylon, Copiague and Amityville.

The Suffolk County Department of Health Services has announced the cancelation of tonight's scheduled aerial pesticide application for Lindenhurst, West Babylon, Copiague and Amityville.

In a statement released late Monday afternoon, SCDHS officials cited "operational difficulties" as the reason for the cancelation, but offered no other details about it.

"The spraying will be rescheduled at a later date, and the usual public notice will be made [at that time]," the statement said.

Meanwhile, weather permitting, Vector Control, scheduled for July 31 in Davis Park and Point O’Woods on Fire Island South, and treatment for West Nile virus, scheduled for August 1 in Shirley, Mastic Beach and Old Mastic, will continue as planned, the SCDHS said.
