Talk Back: Verizon FiOS in the Village

Would you switch to FiOS if it was available in Babylon Village?

Verizon is not currently offering FiOS service within Babylon Village, although it did wire the Town of Babylon several years ago. Last year, the village entered into a non-exclusive ten-year contract with Cablevision, but was unable to negotiate a deal with Cablevision's main competitor, the fiber-optic FiOS.

Verizon spokesperson John Bonomo told Patch that Verizon was not actively pursuing any new contracts with municipalities, and were focused on completing their franchise build-out agreements across Long Island and New York State. The provider is nearing their five-year-completions on many contracts, Bonomo said, which may open the door in the future for new negotiations, but he was unable to provide a timeline for when the situation may change.
