Town Approves Bid Proposal for New Animal Shelter

Town accepts $460k bid from Connecticut-based firm to build new shelter.

The Babylon Town Board unanimously approved a measure awarding a $461,000 bid to a Connecticut-based architect firm for the building of a new town animal shelter.

Design Learned, Inc., of Noriwich, CT, beat out two other design firms, Cameron Engineering and Sidney B. Bowne & Son, LLP, for the new animal shelter building.

The bid originally proposed by Design Learned, Inc. was $565,254, but was renegotiated down to $460,874 after including reimbursable funding for the project.

The measure was passed during the board's most recent public meeting on September 9 at Babylon Town Hall. The resolution allows the town supervisor to execute a contract for the project.

The town currently operates an animal shelter on Lamar Street in West Babylon.

Details on the proposed plan were not available at press time.
