Town Replacing Venetian Shores’ Roller Rink

Rink will be replaced by additional parking and added space for nearby football field.

The Town of Babylon is in the midst of replacing a roller rink that fell into disrepair at Venetian Shores Park in southern Lindenhurst.

According to town communications director Kevin Bonner, the rink had been unused for many years now after falling into disrepair.

With no local groups looking to use the rink, the Town went ahead with a plan to replace the area with something more useful, Bonner told Patch in an email.

“The plan is to remove the rink and replace half of it with 20 new parking spots, alleviating the seasonal parking crowding at Venetian,” Bonner said.

The rest of the rink will be added to the football and lacrosse fields, currently used by the Lindenhurst Football League. The new space, Bonner said, could be used for practices and warmups.

The work at the park will be carried out by the Babylon Town Department of Public Works at “minimal cost,” noted Bonner. He said he expected work to be completed on the project over the course of the next two-to-three weeks.
