Village Board Briefs: Planning Board Member Retires, Block Parties

The village board meeting on August 14th included the resignation of Robert Carpenter.

The Babylon Village Board of Trustees announced the resignation of Planning Board member Robert Carpenter at a regular meeting on August 14th, 2012 at the Babylon Village Hall.

The resignation letter, sent earlier by Carpenter to the Village Hall, was accepted and passed by the board members unanimously. There was no word on who his replacement would be on the Planning Board.

Other items discussed at the Board Meeting included the approval of the following:

  • The Board established days for retirement as required for New York State employees' system, replacing old system.
  • The Tuna Club was given permission to hold a Snapper Derby at the docks on August 25th.
  • Residents of Vanderbilt Avenue, Strong Avenue and others were given permission to hold block parties later this summer.
  • $400.00 was refunded to the Boy Scouts of America, Pack 99 for a cancelled pool party at the Babylon Village Pool.
  • The Board will not be holding a second meeting this month.
  • The Village will not be open for business nor conducting trash pickup on Monday, September 3rd – Labor Day.
  • The Mayor wanted to remind everyone the Babylon Beautification Society's Country Fair on September 9th.
