Village Board Briefs: September 25th

Village board approves Homecoming Parade for High School and salary increase.

The Babylon Village Board of Trustees held a public meeting on September 25th at 8 p.m. In addition to the various questions and speeches made following the meeting concerning the home at 527 Deer Park Avenue, the board made the following decisions during the meeting:

  • The board approved the actions taken by the Babylon Fire Council at a meeting on September 18th, including medical leaves, completions of probation periods and membership role changes.
  • The board approved the salary increase of $1,000 to village employee Brian Canobbio after completing his probation period on September 5th.
  • The board approved a refund of $200 to DiCanio Management for partial refunding of a Zoning Board of Appeals Application.
  • The board granted permission to Babylon Junior-Senior High School to hold a parade for Homecoming on October 13th at 1 p.m. The parade will begin at the parking lot behind Gemelli's.
  • The board approved the following members to the Village of Babylon Records Management Program Advisory Board:
    • Pat Carley, Village Clerk – Records Management Officer
    • Suzanne Schettino
    • Valerie Fronzo
    • Debbie Longo
    • Skip Gardner
    • Irene Ivanoff
  • The board approved the Babylon Village Women's Club request to hold the annual Post Office 5K on the morning of October 20th.

Also announced were upcoming events sponsored by the village:

  • The Apples and Arts Festival will be held at the Conklin House on October 19th, 20th and 21st.
  • The Golf Course will host two outings – the Village Cup on the 13th and the Babylon Breast Cancer Coalition outing on October 15th.
