Village Board Hears Plans for New Restaurant

New restaurant would take over the space currently occupied by Tidewaters.

The Babylon Village Board of Trustees heard the plans for the new restaurant expected to take the space currently occupied by Tidewaters Grill at Main Street and Deer Park Avenue during a public hearing held on Tuesday evening.

Owner and chef Luciano DiRico laid out his plans for "One West Main Bar & Grill," an American bar/grill that would take over Tidewaters within the next few months. DiRico said the new restaurant would keep a diverse menu and 80 seats.

The new menu would include entrees such as oven-roasted French chicken, country fried steak and pineapple ribs.

DiRico, who said he has worked in the food service industry for over 20 years, said this would be the fifth restaurant he has opened. He has most recently operated 22 North Park in Rockville Centre and previously worked as a chef at Port Jefferson's Tequila Jack's.

DiRico told the board he had no plans for live music at the storefront and would operate the restaurant on most days from 11 a.m. to 12 a.m. The owner asked for permission in the future for a possible brunch at the restaurant, but said he would not open the restaurant with the option.

The board reserved decision on the restaurant due to the lack of residents in attendance.
