Village Board Raises Salaries for ZBA, Planning Board

Board members will see small increases in salaries effective June 1.

The Babylon Village Board of Trustees unanimously voted to approve small increases  to board members and secretaries to the village's Zoning Board of Appeals and Planning Board during Tuesday's public meeting.

The board approved five total resolutions for salary increases with "aye" votes from all board members, two for board members and three for secretaries to the respective boards.

Each member of the Zoning Board of Appeals and Planning Board will see $250 annual salary increases.

The projected village budget for the 2013-2014 year shows a steady $15,000 total salary for all members of those boards.

John Conroy, the current secretary to the Zoning Board, will also see a $250 annual salary increase. Deborah Longo, the Planning Board secretary, was approved for a $500 increase.

The secretaries to the Zoning Board of Appeals made a total of $1,500, according to the budget, while the Planning Board secretary was budgeted $1,000.

The salary increases are slated to go into effect June 1.

Trustee Debbie Basile was not in attendance during the meeting.
