Village Loses Out to LI City as a Film Production Site

Actor Mark Wahlberg won't be seen on Deer Park Avenue filming scenes for his new movie.

There is good news and bad news about what will be happening on November 17 in Babylon Village.

The good news is that there will be plenty of parking available along Railroad Avenue and Deer Park Avenue near the train station.

The bad news is that movie star, underwear model and one-time rapper Mark Wahlberg won’t be gracing Babylon Village with his presence while filming scenes for “Ted,” a $38 million dollar romantic comedy currently in production.

Instead the production company has chosen to use Long Island City as the filming location, said village attorney Joel Sikowitz.

“After lots of back and forth and negotiations, at the last minute they dropped out,” said Sikowitz. “The excuse they gave is that there is some film arrangement aspect that works better there. So much ado about nothing. Case closed.”

Wahlberg begin filming “Ted,” a story about a man whose childhood teddy bear comes to life and becomes his best friend, in Boston back in April. It stars Mila Kunis, Jessica Stroup and Joel McHale. It’s the directorial debut for Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane, who also plays the voice of Ted.

The movie is due to be released in July 2012.
