West Babylon EMTs and COPE Police Officers Honored

West Babylon American Legion Post held its annual Law and Order night to honor fire and rescue personnel and police officers who have demonstrated exceptional service.

Sgt. John Sardiello American Legion Post 1634 held its 13th Annual Law and Order Night at the West Babylon Post, honoring three EMTS from the West Babylon Fire Department and two Suffolk County COPE police officers.

According to a press release from Suffolk County Legislator Wayne R. Horsley's office, Leg. Horsley felt privileged to meet and honor members of the Fire and Rescue Departments and police officers who have gone above and beyond the call of duty. 

“Our local firefighters and emergency medical technicians are highly trained and skilled volunteers who make many personal sacrifices to ensure the safety and well-being of our residents. It is important that these EMTs receive the recognition they deserve for their heroic actions. Their dedication and commitment to our community is priceless,” said Horsley.

Suffolk County COPE Police Officers Douglas Cortes and Joseph Russo were celebrated for arresting the thief who stole bronze plaques and urns from Farmingdale cemeteries. 

EMTs Stephen Juliano, Robert Mina Jr., and Stephanie Price from the West Babylon Fire Department were also honored for their quick response and accurate diagnosis of heart failure which saved the life of West Babylon resident Carol McFadden.
