Tale of the Tape: Two Schools Must Go

A look at how the six elementary schools stack up against each other.

While the West Islip Board of Education mulls over which for the 2012-13 school year, we decided to take a look at all six elementary schools...by the numbers.

Editor's Note: The district said they'd reach a decision regarding which schools will close next month.

Some information from the charts below was taken from a slideshow presented at the district's first public study group hearing.

After the schools are closed, what the BOE should do next, is to talk to neighboring school districts to start the process of consolidating the districts into one. Having all these different districts in one county is what is really causing the tax rates to increase. Jack Latch - please explain why having 2 MS's is so beneficial to the school district. Just saying it is, makes it seem like you are part of a MS admin, like the principal or something, maybe janitor or PE.
