Babylon High School Senior Earns National Recognition

Senior student noted as an outstanding scholar among peers nationwide.

Based on her academic performance on the Preliminary SAT and her overall GPA, Babylon High School senior Alexandra Diaz-Pane has been named a 2013-14 National Hispanic Recognition Program Scholar.

The honor, issued by the College Board, was initiated in 1983 to identify outstanding Hispanic/Latino high school students.

At Babylon High School, Alexandra is a dedicated scholar, having been named to the principal's high honors list since the ninth grade. She is a member of the National Honor Society – and previously, the National Junior Honor Society – as well as the National Spanish Honor Society.

This year, the NHRP recognized approximately 5,300 students from a pool of more than 259,000 who took the 2012 PSAT/NMSQT/PAA. Recognized students are of Hispanic/Latino descent, achieved PSAT results above the 188 high selection index and possess a GPA of 3.5 or higher.
