Babylon's Katie McGovern Named Herkimer College MVP

The Babylon High School alumni Katie McGovern was named Herkimer College's MVP for her play during the lacrosse season.

Babylon High School alumni Katie McGovern was awarded the Herkimer Community College Most Valuable Player award for her excellent play during the 2012 season.

McGovern was awared the MVP title at an end-of-year cookout at which student-athletes were recognized with awards in their respective sports.

While the Herkimer Generals woman's lacrosse team went 7-8 on the season, McGovern took the field by storm, ranking in the top ten of the National Junior College Athletic Association in goals scored with 55 during her 15 game season. The sophomore midfielder walso had 18 assists during the season giving her a total of 73 offensive points contributed.

As a freshman in 2011, McGovern put up comparable statistics with 53 goals scored and 16 assists for 69 offensive points in 13 games.

McGovern is currently studying at Herkimer County Community College pursuing a degree in criminal studies.
