Babylon School Board Accepts Donation, Resignation

Long-time Babylon resident gives district a large amount of money.

The Babylon School District Board of Education accepted a $5,000 donation and the resignation of a principal, in addition to many other items discussed, during a meeting on Mon., May 13 at Babylon Junior-Senior High School.

The board formally accepted a $5,000 donation from Mrs. Theresa Santmann as well as a new refrigerator, valued at $1,000, from Plesser's Appliances.

The board also formally accepted the official resignation of Babylon Grade School principal Dr. Randee Bonagura, who will be heading to Wantagh this fall as the new principal of Wantagh Elementary School.

A new principal for the Babylon Elementary School was officially approved by the board – Jessica Kemler, a Queens-based assistant principal at P.S. 182, will take the helm on July 1, 2013.

The board also adopted a new multi-year service agreement with Western Suffolk BOCES in the amount of $327,518.43, a new policy on Visitors to the Schools, an agreement between the district and Edgewater Consultants, and approved the recommendations from the Committee on Preschool Special Education be accepted.
