Babylon School District Receiving Additional $40,000 in State Aid

Interim Superintendent Dr. Peter Daly announced the district will receive $40,000 back in "Bullet Aid."

Interim Superintendent Dr. Peter Daly announced the Babylon Public School District received $40,000 worth of state "bullet aid" at the district's Board of Education on June 26th.

The extra cash back to the district was awarded through New York State's so-called "bullet aid," which awards money back to the districts throughout the state when state revenue exeeds what was expected, said Dr. Daly, who was called by Senator Owen Johnson to tell him the news.

The extra $40,000 joins another $40,000 extra already promised from the state in aid for the Babylon School District for the 2012-2013 school year. The additional aid this joins was already accepted during May's .

"This is certainly good news and was something not anticipated," said Dr. Daly after announcing it during the Superintendent's Report.

The meeting was also Dr. Daly's last as Interim Superintendent. He thanked many of the board members and public for helping him during his time in charge of the school district.

"I always like return something I've borrowed in good condition," he said. "I'd like to think I'm leaving it in good condition." After his final words, a large crowd of about 40 people as well as board members gave him a round of applause.
