Babylon Schools' State Test Scores Go Up
Babylon Schools' state test scores saw increases in almost every grade and subject last year.
State test scores throughout Babylon Schools were on the rise last year as the school district continued to improve upon many areas of learning, include math and language arts scores.
Third Grade's English-Language Arts (ELA) scores saw one of the largest increases, with 73 percent passing the state test, over 13% higher than 2011's class. Third Grade Math also jumped some six percentage points to 77% in 2012.
One of the few grades to see any decline in scores was the 2012 Fifth Grade class, whose ELA scores dropped 3 percentage points from the year before and Fourth Grades' math scores dropped 2 percentage points from the previous year. The Fifth Grade class, however, improved upon their scores from the year before as fourth graders, picking up 11 percentage points in that time.
