Babylon Student Receives Highest Honor in Girl Scouting

Emily Moran was celebrated for her exceptional community service.

On March 24th, Babylon High School student Emily Moran was honored with the most prestigious award in Girl Scouts, the Gold Award.

Moran was honored with a ceremony celebrating her achievement attended by family, friends, fellow scouts, and Town of Babylon elected officials. In a statement from County Legislator Wayne Horsley, Horsley praised Moran for her "unique commitment to leadership and service to her community."

For her community service project at the Ronald McDonald House in New Hyde Park, Moran cooked 100 meals for family members and raised funds and international phone cards for the House residents, who come from all over the world.

The Girl Scout Gold Award is the highest recognition a Girl Scout can receive, and must be earned through a significant individual service project.
