Babylon Students Blast Into Reading

The Babylon Rotary Club has adopted the district's K-2 school as part of its Legacy for Literacy program and is purchasing a book for each student as well as funding books for the classroom.

Students at Babylon Elementary School are not only learning how to read better, but are learning to love reading with the help of special programs and support from the Babylon Rotary Club.

The theme for this year’s Parents as Reading Partners program (PARP) was “Blast Off into Reading,” and the month-long event included a performance of “Sleeping Beauty” by the Marionette Theater Company. The talented touring company dazzled the students with their take on the famous tale and captivated their attention by using creative and beautifully crafted puppets.

In addition the K-2 school has been ‘adopted’ by the Babylon Rotary Club and in addition to participating in the PARP program, the club purchased books at the Scholastic Book Fair for classroooms and is funding the purchase of a book for each child as well.
