BHS Artists Will Display Work at Arts Festival

The exhibition and competition will be held the first weekend of June at Old Town Hall museum in the village.

The 2nd Annual Babylon Arts Festival, co-sponsored by Babylon UFSD, Farmingdale State College and Dowling College, will be hosting an art competition for college-level artists as well as outstanding artists from Babylon High School. The event will take place on Friday, June 1 from 5:00–10:00 p.m.; Saturday, June 2 from 12:00–5:00 p.m.; and Sunday, June 3 from 12:00–4:00 p.m..                      

The exhibition and competition, which will take place at the , 47 West Main Street, Babylon Village, will feature the artistic works of the most talented artists currently attending Farmingdale State College, Dowling College and Babylon High School.       

Artwork will be submitted and judged in three categories (Dowling, Farmingdale and Babylon). In each of these categories, the top four winners will receive $500 scholarships; another four will receive honorable mention. The scholarship monies will be donated by Babylon Village resident and BACCA (Babylon Citizens Council on the Arts) member Theresa Santmann. In addition to the individual scholarship donations, Ms. Santmann will also donate $5,000 to the Babylon UFSD to be used for the advancement of the arts.

“This amazing event has become a community spring highlight,” stated Interim Superintendent of Schools Dr. Peter R. Daly. “We truly appreciate BACCA’s support of the arts, and we are especially grateful to Theresa Santmann for her generosity toward our school district. I hope our families in the community will join me at this wonderful event to enjoy the artwork and show our support for BACCA and our student-artists.”
