Veterinary Medicine Career Exploration Program – Cornell Cooperative Extension

A program for Suffolk County High School sophomores, juniors, and seniors who may be  interested in a career as a veterinarian. There will be lectures with a variety of information on veterinary medicine.

Lecture topics may include:

  • Veterinary colleges and admissions information
  • Alternative veterinary practices
  • Animal behavior
  • Equine medicine
  • Emergency critical care
  • Large and small animal mixed practices

There will also be a tour of the Suffolk County Farm and Education Center on March 19 and veterinarian shadowing opportunities.

Program graduates may be eligible for a Long Island Veterinary Medical Association (LIVMA) scholarship.
