John F. Kennedy Students Work Towards Wellness

Annual Wellness Week helps promote healthy choices among students.

John F. Kennedy Elementary School students in the West Babylon School District recently celebrated Wellness Week. The annual school event, developed and implemented by the school’s student wellness ambassadors as well as physical education instructor Maria Carcone, promotes healthy choices in the school and home environment.

Student ambassadors Erica Annett, Michael Heller, Lucas Hill and Erin Thompson made posters to hang in the school advertising the event and encouraging participation in each of a series of in-school events. Events included Movin’ Monday, Tasty Tuesday, Workout Wednesday, Thirsty Thursday and Fruity Friday. Students were invited to wear colors representing fruits and vegetables and to keep a log of activities done at home with family members that support emotional and physical wellness.
