Katz Installed as New School Board President

Long-time board member takes over the helm of the school district's board.

The Babylon Board of Education unanimously elected Roger Katz to the position of board president during the Reorganizational Meeting held on July 1.

Katz, a long-time member of the Board of Education, took in the most votes during the recent school elections in May, besting fellow board member and former president Dominic Bencivenga by almost 200 votes.

Former board member AnneMarie Martino also ran against the pair during the recent election.

The board approved Katz as the new board president with a 6-0 vote, as Gregory Antonelli was not in attendance.

The board also re-elected Lisa McKeown to her position as vice president of the board with a unanimous vote.
