Last Chance: Tulip Festival and Parade

Celebrate West Babylon's history with the return of the hamlet's tulip festival.

West Babylon's Our Lady of Grace Roman Catholic Church is hosting a recreation of the tulip festivals hosted by the Town of Babylon in the 1950's. This year's tulip festival, a celebration of the hamlet's long history cultivating tulips, will feature a parade starting at the West Babylon Junior High School at 10 a.m.

The parade will end at the church, where the convent sisters will hand out awards to the best float, best band, and best group in the parade. The church is next to the historic Van Bourgondien house, one of the original nurseries in the area.

The historic homestead will celebrate its grand opening and dedication as a local historical landmark. The West Babylon School District's student history project In Grandma's Attic will organize displays in the Van Bourgondien farmhouse.
