Learning is Ducky at Tooker Elementary School

As part of their science curriculum, second grade students at Tooker Elementary School in West Babylon have been learning about the lifecycle of ducks.

The students conducted independent research on this interesting animal in the computer lab and learned many interesting facts such as they are omnivorous and have an egg tooth to help them break out of their shell while hatching.

Of course, for the students, the most exciting part of their study was watching the ducks hatch. As the ducks broke out of their shells between May 6 and 11, the students named their fluffy friends Peep, Lewis, Fuzzy and Fluffy. They even watched their ducklings run around and take a bath.  The ducks were then returned to a local farm and were adopted by willing families.
