Patch offers up a team update for the week of September 25 through October 1
All you need to do is look at the daily Patch events calendar and you'll see that there always seems to be a Panther varsity team on a local field.
To help readers keep up on all the various teams' progress Patch is posting a weekly update of team highlights and game scores.

Girls Soccer: It was the Carolanne Murphy show last week, as she had two game-winning goals. Last Thursday, she scored the game’s only goal as Babylon defeated Hampton Bays 1 – 0 in a league game. Hannah McGlinchey and Erica Zigon combined for the shutout.
The following day, Murphy again scored the only goal in a non-league win against Stony Brook. McGlinchey earned the shutout, making 12 saves. With the win against Hampton Bays, Babylon upped its record to 2-2-1 in League VII.

Boys Soccer: Babylon had one game, losing to Center Moriches, 3 – 2. The Panthers led 2 – 1, on goals from Dan Coyne and Alex Malhas, before giving up the tying goal with six minutes remaining. Center Moriches (4-0) then went ahead on a penalty kick three minutes later.
Current record: 1-3 in League VII.
Girls Cross Country: In their only meet last week, the girls cross country team went up against last year’s league champion, Center Moriches, losing 17 – 45. Eighth grader Meaghan Pashen was Babylon’s top finisher, putting in a best time of 22:43.
Current record: 0-2 in League VII.
Field Hockey: The Panthers played two division contests last week, losing to Bay Shore on Monday 3 – 1. Maggie Griffo scored the Panther’s only goal. The next day, Babylon rebounded with a 3- 2 overtime win against Patchogue-Medford. Michelle Mangini scored in regulation, and scored again in penalty strokes, along with Kerry Glenday.
Current record: 3-2 in Division II.
Football: Last Saturday, Babylon dropped a 21 – 7 contest to John Glenn. The Panther’s only touchdown came on a 2-yard-run by Grant Shannon. Shannon and Frank Mankiewicz turned in solid games running the football.
Current record: 2-2 in Division IV.
