Photo of the Day: Glass Artists

Local students had a hands-on lesson in glass blowing thanks to a unique field trip experience.

Babylon High School’s National Art Honor Society learned about the art of blown glass when they recently visited the Corning Museum of Glass and the Rockwell Museum of Western Art. During the field trip, the students also had the chance to participate in glass blowing, glass fusing, and glass sandblasting activities in the Corning workshops area. The NAHS is comprised of students in grades 10-12 who maintain a 90 percent average in art and are currently enrolled in one of the building’s studio art classes. The school hopes to introduce glass-fusing lessons in the department’s curriculum next year.
