Photo-Op: Babylon HS Alums Part of Championship Dowling Team
Three Babylon natives were a big part of Dowling College's drive to the NCAA Division II men's lacrosse championship.
Three Babylon High School alumni helped lead the Dowling College Golden Lions to the school's first ever Men's Lacrosse Division II National Championship with 11-10 win over the Limestone College Saints on May 29th.
The alumni – sophomore Dylan Hopkins and seniors Matt Lauria and Matt Sutherland – were an intrigual part of the team's success during the season and their final victory, giving the Golden Lions a 13-2 record on the year.
Lauria, a defenseman, helped protect the goal during the final minutes of the game, which included multiple shots on goal by the Saints. He preserved the win by scooping up and holding onto the ball for the final seconds.
