Photo Op: Meeting and Greeting a New Superintendent

The new Babylon Superintendent of Schools chatted with board members, teachers, and parents at a introductory reception.

After Monday's Board of Education work study meeting, resident were encouraged to stay and chat with newly appointed superintendent Richard Rozakis. Currently assistant superintendent in Bellmore-Merrick, Rozakis begins his term on July 1.

Rozakis told Patch that he's excited to come onboard during a time of so many changes.

"There are so many state mandated changes, and those aren't going away and we have to learn how to deal with them, and that's something I've been doing in my current district. But it's good to come to a district where everyone is proactively looking at making their own positive changes, as well, above and beyond what's mandated."

"I enjoy the small school environment," he added. "It's nice to see parents and the community so engaged and attending meetings, asking questions."

After the BOE meeting, which outlined new technology enhancements being considered under the BOCES financing plan, Rozakis enthusiastically commented about the role of technology in education.
