'Reading Is a Treasure' at Babylon Memorial Grade School

Babylon Memorial Grade School students hold Pirate Day in celebration of reading.

As a culminating celebration for the Babylon PTA’s Parents as Reading Partners program, all students from Babylon Memorial Grade School dressed as pirates and participated in a flash mob in the school hallways to go along with this year’s PARP theme, “Reading Is a Treasure.”

The students danced and sang “Gotta Keep Reading,” an adaptation of the Black Eyed Peas’ “I've Got a Feeling.”

According to Babylon Memorial Grade School Principal Randee Bonagura, the students read at least 15 minutes each night with a family member, and in exchange for their hard work, Babylon’s PTA donated funds to First Book on their behalf. First Book is an organization that provides books to children in need nationwide.
