School News Briefs: Sponsorship Floated as Potential Revenue

Board member offers up a new funding idea.

Ever wanted to see your family's name, or your child's name, on the wing of a school building or as a sponsor of a special classroom?

If so you'll be excited to hear that such sponsorship is being evaluated and investigated as potential source of new budget revenue for the Babylon School District.

Board of Education Vice President and trustee Roger Katz is looking into the possibility given the budget challenges the district is facing in light of the state manded tax cap levy.

The idea is that sponsors would pay a fee, possibly on a monthly basis or on a eternal basis, to have their name on a classroom door, building wing, or special area such as the gymanisum or library.

The idea is in its infancy stage and was discussed by Katz at the board's meeting on March 12.
