South Bay Students Write Valentines for Veterans

Four classes at West Babylon's South Bay Elementary School  recently took part in the Valentines for Veterans program. Students in first, second and fifth grades made cards, wrote poems and stories, decorated hearts and added personal touches to their work in hopes of showing their support and offering their well wishes for those brave servicemen and women who served our country.

“It is important to do something nice for the veterans because they do so much for us,” said second-grader Dylan Heitmann.

Assemb. Joseph Saladino, who initiated the project, came to the school and picked up the cards to deliver them to local servicemen and women. He went into the classrooms and spoke to the children about the project and thanked them for their efforts.
